About Roger
Roger Hernandez is a father of four, husband of one, and pastor to many. He currently serves as Ministerial and Evangelism Director for the Southern Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and has dedicated more than 30 years to ministry, leadership, evangelism, and church revitalization.
Born in Cuba and fully bilingual in English and Spanish, Roger is a sought-after communicator who speaks internationally in both faith-based and business settings. He is known for motivating people to move from inspiration to action and for communicating complex ideas with clarity, simplicity, humor, and practical application.
His leadership framework centers on four powerful themes: LEAD—Leadership, Evangelism, Accountability, and Diversity.
Roger comes from a remarkable family legacy—seven pastors in his immediate family. He earned his BS in Theology from Columbia Union College, now Washington Adventist University, and his MDiv from Andrews University Theological Seminary.
A passionate mentor, preacher, author, and church revitalization advocate, Roger has a particular gift for connecting with people across generations. His ministry passions include mentoring leaders, preaching, evangelism, church planting, discipleship, and helping congregations become healthier and more effective in reaching their communities.
Roger is the author of more than 34 books covering relationships, parenting, evangelism, church growth, leadership, and preaching. His books Failure Is Not Final and We All Have Problems were each named Sharing Book of the Year. Everyone Welcome was recognized as the Discipleship Book of the Year. His latest book, Graceful Parenting, was published in 2025.
Outside of ministry, Roger enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and playing sports—and his love for Jordans is legendary.
Roger and his wife, Kathy, have four adult children: Yessenia, Deisy, Vanessa, and Jonathan, and six grandchildren: Sara, Maya, Aida, Ismari, Amari, and Yumi.
